NEW FEARS ist eine Galerie für Performance und Transdisziplinarität in Berlin-Wedding, die in Berlin ansässige und internationale Künstler:innen vertritt.
Für jede Episode lädt NEW FEARS zwei Künstler:innen zu einer Residency in Berlin
ein, die in einer öffentlichen Veranstaltung endet. Der Prozess wird von Autor:innen begleitet, die ein Manifest publizieren, das auf der bevorstehenden Veranstaltung vorgestellt wird. Bisher existieren #9 Episoden.

We had no idea that the project room scene in Berlin existed until we had founded our own …„Nur für die Kunst steh ich jeden Tag auf!“ Zitat von Lydia Karstadt. Kunst ist ein gesellschaftlicher Reflexions- und Erfahrungsraum. Und natürlich entwickelt sich das Kunstverständnis aus dieser Reflexion immer weiter, das gehört ja schon zum Kunstbegriff, würde ich sagen. Mein künstlerisches Interesse ist erfahrungs- und entwicklungsorientiert, emanzipatorisch und aktivierend. Ich möchte in einer Kultur leben, wo die Rollenverteilungen von Arm und Reich, zwischen produzieren und konsumieren nicht mehr so abgegrenzt voneinander sind. Künstlerisches Schaffen ist für mich eine Möglichkeit, dazu beizutragen. Es bietet einen Handlungsraum, gesellschaftliche Änderungen spielerisch vorzudenken und auszuprobieren.The art scene, spaces, artists, and initiators in the past ten years (being a continuum of what has gone before) in a nutshell, can be seen to have changed from individual authorships to more collective ones. They act in opposition to the anonymized corporate structures, in particular the giant housing conglomerates (these destructive collective edifices that have the same legal rights as a sentient individual human being) that threaten to dissemble the unique fabric of the city of Berlin that provided a fertile ground in which these initiatives could rise, connect, and thrive. So the project room scene provides a positive counter-weight to these destructive development processes as a living, breathing, collaborative, and inclusive network. I hope that this fabulous project room network does not drown in the indifference of mainstream political thinking in the city of Berlin.
