alpha nova & galerie futura ist ein seit 1986 bestehender Ausstellungs- und Veranstaltungsort in Berlin, der aus einer dezidiert emanzipatorischen und feministischen Perspektive kulturproduzierende und kulturvermittelnde Praxis verschränkt. Der Schwerpunkt liegt in der Zusammenarbeit mit Künstlerinnen bzw. FLINTA-Personen*. alpha nova & galerie futura schafft einen Raum für die Verknüpfung von politischer Intervention und künstlerischer Praxis, um daraus kritische Standpunkte für Kunst, Wissenschaft und Gesellschaft zu entwickeln.

Art has the unique ability to help us expand our imagination and the way we think about the world. By bending the lines of logic and rational approaches, it offers a gateway to our collective unconscious and provides a terrain where everything is possible, hence pushing our thinking process forward. We see art and artists as seismographs for changes in society. There is also great freedom in art, addressing big and timeless questions that are independent of current economic and political realities and interests. Art can be a space for utopias, or for histories outside of history books. Art is important because it keeps us going through the difficult and dark times. Art keeps us alive.Even though COVEN doesn’t have our own project space (although we are thinking about getting a studio …), we make space, mainly for our queer community in Berlin and online. We make space to come together, meet each other, talk about stuff, and laugh. We try to pay as many queers as we can to make art with us. To think about art, to question art. Art for us has always been about creating community and offer alternatives to worn-out narratives. We like art for its world-making capacity.Wir wünschen uns von der Politik, dass sie sich für leistbare Mieten und die Absicherung von freien Projekträumen über temporäre Zuschüsse hinaus einsetzt. Die zweijährige Basisförderung für Projekträume und -initiativen ist ein wichtiger Schritt in diese Richtung und wir hoffen, dass sich dieser politische Trend − weg von einer „Einzelfallfinanzierung“ hin zu Strukturförderung − fortsetzt und verstetigt.
