Sonntag ist eine regelmäßig in Berlin veranstaltete soziale Plas- tik. Von den Künstler*innen April Gertler und Adrian Schiesser im September 2012 ins Leben gerufen, findet die Kunstveranstal- tung jeden 3. Sonntag im Monat in wechselnden privaten Berliner Wohnungen statt. Sonntag sieht sich als eine Plattform für internationale in Berlin lebende Künstler*innen zur Weiterent- wicklung ihrer künstlerischen Aktivitäten. Als einen Ort, um zeit- genössische Kunst einer breiteren Öffentlichkeit zu präsentieren, verknüpft mit der deutschen Tradition des Beisammenseins bei Kaffee und Kuchen an einem Sonntagnachmittag. Sonntag lädt einen/eine Künstler*in ein, bei Kaffee und Kuchen Arbeiten in ei- ner privaten Wohnung zu zeigen. Durch diese soziale Erfahrung findet ein Austausch statt, der eine Verbindung zwischen dem/ der jeweiligen Künstler*in und den Betrachter*innen herstellt.

The engagement and support from the Network has been vitally important to our growth and sustainability, and also our learning and understanding of the wider Berlin art scene beyond our micro-communities. For one thing, we have learned so much about the plurality of spaces and creative discourses in Berlin. But the open discussion that the Network allows with the Berlin Senate and one another has been really important in order to understand our needs as unique nodes in the artistic landscape of Berlin, and creative mutual goals for the sustainability and vitality of the community as a whole.The Network is a fundamental organization in the artistic landscape of Berlin. Without the Network, many of the support structures that have been built in recent years simply would not exist. Unionizing has always been problematic in a sector like the art sphere where the construction of the worker has been historically based on the idea of the author, and therefore the ego. In order to achieve change, cooperative models like the Network are a must. The challenge is how to create belonging from difference.Das Verständnis davon, was Kunst ist, ist im ständigen Wandel begriffen. Interdisziplinäres, medien- und themenübergreifendes Arbeiten ist zur „Normalität“ geworden. Der digitale Raum wird mehr und mehr als künstlerischer Handlungsraum erschlossen.
